Entry protocol

For general measures

Myanmar visas are temporarily suspended with very few exceptions. Most foreign nationals are unable to enter Myanmar neither through air or land borders except for those who have contacted and acquired special approval from the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Document requirements

Foreigners who are granted permission to travel to Myanmar must arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Nay Pyi Taw International Airports; show certificate of negative results of PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure; undergo temperature check upon arrival. The certificate must contain full name, passpord/ID number, date of test, test results and health clinic details. A COVID-19 certificate of recovery cannot be used as a substitute for the PCR test result document.

Nationals of Myanmar are not required to take a test before returning to Myanmar from overseas

Quarantine

Travellers must quarantine at a government-arranged facility for 10 days. Foreigners are required to pay for PCR tests on days 3 and 7 of the quarantine period. A negative test result is needed to leave quarantine after 10 days. Further tests could be required after leaving isolation.

Vaccine authorised to be used in the country

These vaccines are authorised to be used in Myanmar: Sputnik V, Covishield (Oxford/AstraZeneca)

Border status

Closed except for very few exceptions. Myanmar’s land borders are closed to foreign nationals (including both entry and exit) and international flights are suspended.
