Entry protocol
For general measures
Any travellers who have recently travelled to or through India or Bangladesh will not be permitted entry to Iraq.
Document requirements
For those travelling to Iraq, they are required to take a COVID‑19 PCR test and submit applicable documents before departure.
Indian nationals may enter Basra provided that they are working for an Oil Company and that they have not been in India within 14 days before travel to Basra. They must hold a letter of support from the respective “Basra Oil Company”, including a complete passenger list.
COVID‑19 PCR testing:
All travellers travelling to Iraq must have a printed medical certificate with a negative coronavirus COVID‑19 PCR test or RT‑PCR test result. The test must have been taken at most 72 hours before departure and the certificate must be in Arabic or English.
Quarantine
Quarantine rules Nationals of the following countries, regardless of their residency status, must follow the above regulations to enter Iraq. This category of passengers are subject to a 14 day quarantine in their home, working camps or hotels until a negative COVID‑19 PCR test result has been received.
Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iran, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, South Africa, Slovakia, Spain, United Kingdom, USA, and Zambia
Indian nationals may enter Baghdad provided they have not been in India in the last 14 days prior to entry into Baghdad and they are subject to 7 days quarantine.
Vaccine authorised to be used in the country
These vaccines are authorised to be used in Iraq: Pfizer/BioNTech, Sputnik V, Oxford/AstraZeneca, Sinopharm (Beijing)
Border status
Partially open. Passengers arriving from India are not allowed to enter Iraq via Baghdad (BGW), Basra (BSR) or Najaf (NJF).
