Entry protocol

For general measures 

Most travellers, regardless of vaccination status, will not be allowed enter China.  

Entry restrictions do not apply to: 

  • Chinese citizens
  • Diplomatic, courtesy, or C visa holders;
  • International travellers coming to China for necessary economic, trade, scientific or technological activities or out of emergency humanitarian needs may apply for visas at Chinese embassies or consulates. 

Document requirement  

  • Visa is required for a foreign citizen to visit China. 
  • Submit a Health Declaration Form to nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate. In order to receive a Health Declaration Form from the Chinese Embassy. They must provide evidence of a negative nucleic acid test seven days before  travelling, followed by a negative nucleic acid and an IgM antibody test for COVID-19 taken no more than 48 hours before you travel. Foreign travellers must present the electronic or printed code, and follow the procedures for inspection by relevant airlines during boarding,. 

Quarantine 

All travellers who enter China, are screened upon arrival and subject to a minimum 14-day quarantine. They should be prepared to complete quarantine at a government-selected facility or hotel at their own expense.  Cities and provinces within China may also require quarantine for domestic travellers, regardless of nationality.

Border status

Partially open. China currently allows foreign nationals with valid residence permits and visas to enter the country under certain very limited conditions.
