Certificate adoption

Yes. The “COOV app” vaccine passport, which will allow international travellers to show digital proof of inoculation, has been officially adopted for use by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

The app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store but vaccinated individuals can still collect a physical vaccine pass from the clinic where they get vaccinated. Also, the app generates a unique QR code that will confirm vaccination status as well as how long it has been since receiving doses.

Entry protocol

South Korea entry restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic also include some limitations for transit passengers. Travelers are currently only allowed to transit through South Korea for a maximum of 24 hours. They must have a confirmed connecting ticket.

Travelers are subject to the following entry rules:

Travelers aged 6 and older must present a medical certificate showing a negative PCR COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours of departure. Health Declaration Form must be completed and presented on arrival

All passengers traveling to South Korea must install Self-quarantine safety protection mobile app on their mobile device.

It is not mandatory for all travelers arriving in South Korea to quarantine, but most passengers could be subject to quarantine for up to 14 days on arrival.

However, passengers with a certificate stating they received a COVID-19 vaccine in South Korea at least 2 days before departure do not have to quarantine unless arriving from Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Chile, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Paraguay, South Africa, Suriname, Tanzania, or Zimbabwe.

Please note that passengers with an E-9 visa issued by South Korea must present a completed ‘Confirmation of Self-quarantine’ form upon arrival.
