Entry protocol

For general measures

Macau permits residents from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to enter the territory if they have not been to other locations in the previous 21 days. Travellers from foreign countries are prohibited from entering Macau.

Document requirements

For travellers who have visited from Hong Kong 4 days or from Taiwan region 21 days prior to arriving in Macao, must hold a certificate of negative result for COVID-19 nucleic acid test performed within 24 hours. Travellers who have been present in Mainland China within the past 14 days prior to arriving in Macao, and have never been to any foreign country or Taiwan region within the past 21 days prior to arrival, they must hold a certificate of negative result for COVID-19 nucleic acid test within 7 days.

Quarantine

For travellers from Hong Kong: If they have visited Hong Kong 14 days prior to arriving in Macao, they must hold a certificate of negative result for COVID-19 nucleic acid test performed within 24 hours and will need to go to designated places for a 14-day medical observation

For travellers from Taiwan: If they have visited Taiwan region 21 days prior to arriving in Macao, they must hold a certificate of negative result for COVID-19 nucleic acid test issued within 24 hours upon boarding the plane and will need to go to designated places for a 21-day medical observation

For travellers from Mainland China: Inbound travellers from medium- and high-risk areas of mainland China must quarantine until reaching 14 days from their last exposure at designated hotels, with a minimum quarantine period of 7 days. The requirements are in place for travellers from the following locations:

  • Beijing: Changping District
  • Gansu Province: Jiayuguan, Lanzhou, Longnan, Zhangye, and Jiuquan cities and Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture
  • Guizhou Province: Zunyi
  • Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region: Erenhot and Hohhot cities and Alxa and Xilingol leagues
  • Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region: Yinchuan, Wuzhong
  • Shaanxi Province: Xi’an
  • Shandong Province: Wulian County, Rizhao
  • Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region: Urumqi
  • Yunnan Province: Ruili City, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Region

Those who have visited any of the cities mentioned in the attachments, are required by the Macao health authorities to observe certain epidemic-control measures.

These vaccines are authorised to be used in Macau: Sinopharm (Beijing), Pfizer/BioNTech


Border status

Partially open. The Macao government has announced that all travellers arriving in Macao, who are not residents of Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan or mainland China, will be denied entry. Residents of Hong Kong, Taiwan or mainland China who have travelled overseas in the 21 days prior to their arrival will also be denied entry.
